these are mom's babies. two baby turkeys, two ducklings, and a little bantam chicky in the middle. (marco and polo are the turkeys, the ducks are debbie and dicky, and the chicky's name is midge.)
he follows the ducks around like they're his parents. when they splash, he splashes...when they clean their feathers, he cleans too. the five of them roam around the house, in and out of the flowers, and up through the garden.
on april 7th the earth gave me a spring shower as a lovely gift, but the baby chicky didnt fare so well. that afternoon i found carl, joe, and bonny all huddled around mom upstairs in their dressing room. bonny had the blow dryer set to low and mom was holding the chick and combing it's feathers while he dried. mom looks at me somberly, " i found him lying on his side," she says as she holds out the drowned looking creature for me to see, "his little legs were sticking straight out. we're trying to get him warm." okay. he recovered, thanks to their efforts, and claudia clover ilovebabychickens rejoices. midge now forever has curled up feathers.
this is carl's finished eagle project. mom and dad should really be getting the badge. it's a gazebo at camp navoo (i thought glory might want to check this action out...whats up, glory?)
we had snow! at a fair amount too, at least for mild placerville. carl and joe went snowboarding down this hill. the earth looked so different, it was a nice treat for our eyes.
mom has a cool hat that i wear sometimes, but i am in deep opposition to wearing beanies in warm weather, my one and only fashion rule..(great, now i have to break it..) in this photo, folks, wendy is eating oatmeal while she and teddy play peek-a-boo. they were really cute, obviously.teddy and his work of art. notice the brush technique on his egg, a true artistic savant. he later ate it. "mmmmm, eeeegggggg.......good." he can basically say anything. "duck poo, gross." true teddy, especially when you get it all over us. he'll never forget.teddy chasing the baby chicky. none of us are really quite fast enough.
